Last week was Europe’s version of the FT Legal Innovation Awards; a huge congratulations to all the winners and nominees. Have you ever wondered why certain people win? Look no further. By chance, many of the winners are talking at this year’s Legal Geek Conference on the very topics that they actually won awards for!

So, whilst we may not have the secret sauce to help you win an award straight off the bat, you can definitely get under the bonnet of Europe’s best legal innovation at our upcoming Conference. You’ll be able to hear the stories first-hand from the winners themselves in TED talk style presentations and interviews throughout the day. They will be talking about how they innovate, not why, and we are encouraging all our speakers to give clear and actionable advice to attendees.

Tell me more!

Congratulations to Freshfields, our incredible headline sponsors, on winning both “Most Innovative Law Firm in Europe” and “Innovation in Strategy and Changing Behaviours” awards. How did they do it? Well, we’ll let you in on a few secrets! Isabel Parker from Freshfields is taking to our main stage this year to speak about “Diversity and creating a mindful workplace”, whilst her colleague Giles Pratt will be speaking on our in-house stage about “How to digitally transform your in-house functions.” Plus, the Freshfields team has tonnes of presentations and workshops planned on their stand to give you an in-depth insight into the cutting edge innovation work the firm is focusing on.

We love intrapreneurship and always run a number of sessions at our flagship Conference on the topic, so it was great to see Stephen Allen, Innovation Lead and Global Head of Legal Operations at Hogan Lovells, sweep up the inaugural ‘Legal Intrapreneur of the Year’ award. Stephen will be joining us to speak at the Legal Geek Conference for the first time this year on the ‘Economics of Collaboration’. You definitely don’t want to miss out on this one.

Other notable Legal Intrapreneur of the Year’ nominees speaking at the Legal Geek Conference are:

Shruti Ajitsaria, Partner and Head of Fuse at Allen & Overy, speaking on how A&O works with smaller startups such as Avvokka via Fuse

Jonathan Patterson, Managing Director at DWF Ventures, speaking on their Legal Design Challenge and also running a workshop at our Legal Design Conference

Nick West, Chief Strategy Officer at Mishcon de Reya, on the lessons from MDR Labs

Chris Grant, Head of Relationship Management and Head of Eagle Lab LawTech Innovation at Barclays, speaking on one of the core expectations of your clients, and essential for maintaining profitability

Ok so the article is a bit opportunist, but nevertheless it’s great to see our speaker roster is so aligned to the FT Innovation Awards this year! Hope to see you there: www.legalgeek.co/conference
