The LawTech startups with the most votes on our startup map (made possible thanks to Thomson Reuters) qualified to pitch at the Legal Geek Startup Awards in four categories: Best Document Automation Award, Best Machine Intelligence Award, Best Market Places Award, and Best Operations Award.
The winners of the Legal Geek Startup Awards were announced in the evening of the Legal Geek Conference on 18 October 2016.
Best Document Automation Award
The following startups were shortlisted for the Best Document Automation Award:
We are pleased to announce that the winner in this category is Juro, a contract automation platform that allows users to reduce the time spent on sales paperwork.
Best Machine Intelligence Award
In the category Best Machine Intelligence we shortlisted the following startups:
The winner in the Best Machine Intelligence category is CheckRecipient for their use of artificial intelligence and machine learning to secure enterprise information across email networks and preventing highly sensitive information from being sent to the wrong person.
Best Market Places Award
The following startups were nominated in the Best Market Place category:
The winner in this category is Route1 for creating a job app for lawyers that anonymously matches lawyers with private practice and in-house legal jobs.
Best Operations Award
Three startups were shortlisted in the Best Operations category:
The Best Operations Awards goes to Hoowla for modernising conveyancing for law firms. Founded in 2013, Hoowla is a cloud based case management software which allows legal professionals to manage their case loads efficiently and automatically generate legal documents, submitting information to third parties such as HMRC and the Land Registry.
